摘要
AimTo investigate the influence of cognitive functions on the effectiveness of Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT)(R) BIG therapy on motor symptoms, gait speed, activities of daily living (ADLs), and quality of life (QOL) in people with Parkinson's disease (PD).MethodsThis retrospective, single-center cohort study included 20 people with PD (PwPD) with mild cognitive impairment (PD-MCI group) or without (PD-NC group) (n = 10 each).ResultsIn the PD-NC group, all assessments improved significantly. Similarly, the PD-MCI group showed significant improvements in the total Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) Part III, 10-meter walking test, and total MDS-UPDRS Part II. However, the Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire summary index showed a trend toward improvement that did not reach statistical significance.ConclusionsLSVT (R) BIG therapy may improve motor symptoms, gait speed, and ADLs in PwPD, regardless of the presence or absence of MCI.
