摘要
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was already a notable rise in the prevalence of ALD, particularly among younger individuals and females. Ethnic groups such as Hispanics, Blacks, and Native Americans were disproportionately affected by AUD and ALD. The pandemic further fueled these trends. Additionally, the escalating rates of obesity and metabolic syndrome, in conjunction with alcohol consumption, are anticipated to lead to even higher incidences of ALD. The introduction of a new category, Met-ALD, is expected to enhance our understanding of the synergistic effects of ALD and MASLD. There has been a significant increase in early liver transplantation for ALD, although concerns about alcohol relapse post-transplantation remain prevalent. Early detection and treatment are crucial in managing this condition, which holds significant public health benefits.
