The efficient visible light assisted photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline and crystal violet using phyto-mediated magnesium oxide-zinc oxide nanocomposites

摘要
The Aloe vera extract-mediated MgO, ZnO, and Mg/ZnO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized. The structural, optical, and elemental composition of the synthesized nanoparticles were determined using XRD, FTIR, SEM, TEM, BET, UV, and XPS techniques. The photocatalytic activity showed the breakdown of tetracycline and crystal violet dye in the presence of visible light, exhibiting 99.42 % and 95.35 % degradation efficiency employing Mg/ZnO nanoparticles within 90 min. The synthesized Mg/ZnO nanoparticles showed enhanced antibacterial activity against pathogenic Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. This research highlights the photocatalytic potential of green synthesized nanocomposites with their potential environmental and biomedical applications.
