摘要
Although cross-sectional imaging techniques are increasingly available, conventional X-ray imaging is still indispensable and should not be relegated to the background. For some diagnoses of the shoulder and elbow and their further treatment planning, the conventional X-ray image is sufficient, so that no further, radiation-exposing computed tomography (CT) is usually necessary. However, CT offers a significantly higher level of detail and enables a precise three-dimensional slice display, so that it provides the necessary additional information for specific diagnoses and contributes to better visualization. CT is also indicated for preoperative planning in arthroplasty/revision arthroplasty. In the coming years, the use of artificial intelligence will be increasingly integrated into everyday radiology and contribute to the improvement of imaging technology, image quality, radiation exposure, and reporting.
