摘要
This research explores Taiwan's foreign policy strategy of hedging between China and the United States, highlighting its effectiveness in balancing national security, economic interests, and political autonomy. Qualitative analysis of historical and contemporary sources demonstrates that Taiwan leverages economic engagement with China and robust military cooperation with the United States to maintain strategic flexibility and avoid over-dependence on either superpower. The findings indicate that this nuanced approach allows Taiwan to preserve its sovereignty and stability amidst escalating U.S.-China tensions. This strategy not only underscores the importance of strategic flexibility and adaptability, but also offers a model for other small- and medium-sized nation-states navigating complex geopolitical landscapes.
