摘要
This study deals with the effect of temperature annealing on photocatalytic properties of samarium doped zinc oxide nanoparticles prepared by fast co-precipitation synthesis method. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis indicates that the synthesized Sm:ZnO with and without heat treatment exhibits a wurtzite structure. Electron microscope (SEM) measurements reveal that the Sm:ZnO-NPs are nanorods with an average size of 20 nm. Energy dispersion (EDX) analysis confirms that the NPs are primarily composed of samarium, zinc and oxygen. Sm:ZnO-NPs demonstrated significant catalytic performance in the degradation of methyl orange (MO) and methylene blue (MB) under UV irradiation. This study highlights the influence of heat processing on the potential use of Sm doped ZnO in wastewater treatment applications.Graphical AbstractSchematic representation of photocatalytic degradation mechanism in the presence of Sm doped ZnO under UV light irradiation
