摘要
The Islamic sundial, mizwala from the Arabic word zawal (noon), is a plaque of marble or sandstone, often placed on a built structure and oriented towards the sun. Despite our elementary knowledge about the history of this astronomical instrument, we are able today to know its main characteristics and its evolution throughout the history in the Islamic World, and to understand the specificities of the corpus of each country, such as Tunisia which was a propitious area for development in the sciences like astronomy and gnomonic which led us to talk about the "Tunisian phase in Islamic Gnomonic".
