Conceptualizing a Model for Information Technology Governance for Successful Digital Transformation in Higher Education: An Approach Focused on Absorptive Capacity

摘要
In a setting where digital transformation is becoming a major strategic issue, information technology (IT) governance is emerging as a key tool for organizations. An innovative model focused on three strategic areas structural capacity, operational capacity, and relational capacity is suggested in this article. An optimal absorptive capacity, which involves acquiring, integrating, transforming, and efficiently using knowledge, is developed through these areas. This absorptive capacity is directly linked to various key success factors in digital transformation. We argue that IT governance should be viewed as a process of organizational learning that directly impacts strategic decisions and actions of organizations. The accumulated experience and knowledge from this IT governance is viewed as key indicators of organizational learning, which influence the success of digital transformation. Without studies adopting this perspective, this article proposes a conceptual framework that is part of an innovative approach, highlighting the importance of absorptive capacity as a key element of digital transformation, especially in the higher education sector.
