摘要
This study investigated the sustainability and value addition of bio-wastes by developing a cost-effective method for removing U(VI) from synthetic aqueous solutions. The method utilized two types of hydrogel composite beads made from calcium alginate, combined with Moringa oleifera leaves and seeds. Batch experiments were conducted to examine the biosorption of U(VI) ions using sodium alginate-polyethyleneimine-Moringa oleifera seed (SA-PEI-MS) and leaf (SA-PEI-ML) beads. The beads were thoroughly characterized using interesting techniques. Key parameters affecting uranium sorption were explored and optimized. The data was best described by the Langmuir isotherm model, which indicated maximum adsorption capacities of 147.05 mg/g for the SA-PEI-MS beads and 131.87 mg/g for the SA-PEI-ML beads.
