摘要
Fundamental research and industry have made tremendous efforts to reply to the societal demand for preserving genetic resources. Despite this effort, biobanking remains a key challenge. Different cell lines such as blood, pluripotent stem cells, or reproductive cells (sperm, oocyte, embryo, ovarian tissue) are part of a routine process in pharmaceuticals, medical or animal breeding institutes. IMV Technologies group, a biotechnology company, is innovating in every step of these process including cryopreservation, in both human and veterinary application. This scientific effort in the biobanking industry has highlighted the importance of international trade and the particular attention paid to the sanitary quality of these resources. Hence, it is necessary to improve cryopreservation products for higher performance, higher storage safety (no cross-contamination), better standardization and lower impact on the environment. This non-exhaustive review shows the technical constraints of today and how scientists and industries intend to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
