摘要
Torsional irregularity can significantly affect the seismic performance of structures, potentially resulting in structural failure. This paper aims to mitigate the substantial levels of torsional displacements experienced in torsionally coupled shear building structures subjected to bi-directional earthquakes by optimizing a passive control device, namely, a double-tuned mass damper inerter. Particle Swarm Optimization is employed to minimize two discrete objective functions to select the optimal placement and design parameters of Tuned mass damper inerters installed in asymmetric-plan building structures with different levels of torsional irregularity. The results demonstrate that this approach is highly effective for regulating structural behavior during seismic events.
