Investigation of crevice corrosion susceptibility of L80-13Cr in CO2 solution containing SO2

摘要
Based on the potential risk of crevice corrosion in the casing during CO2 injection and storage, this study investigated the crevice corrosion susceptibility of L80-13Cr steel in CO2-saturated NaCl solutions with different SO2 concentrations and pH. It was found that crevice corrosion didn't occur without SO2, while the introduction of SO2 led to crevice corrosion. Electrochemical techniques were employed to study passivation characteristics, which observed that the addition of SO2 altered the passivation behavior. The formation of the passivation film was hindered, and the passivation film stability was reduced by the addition of SO2, especially at higher chloride ion concentrations.
