摘要
On June 5, 2024, Fred Dallmayr - a "citizen of the world" in the high humanistic sense, passed away. He was Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame (USA), the author of about 40 books, and the executive editor of 20 collective works. The last 25 years of his life were entirely devoted to the search for ways to overcome monologic thinking - "the main problem of Western modernity". He advocated a "turn" in which he brought to the fore the dialogical nature of human thought and behavior, believing that this would lead to the expansion of the public space in a global and cross-cultural direction, to progress towards pluralistic democracy. Fred Dallmire never changed his motto "The Courage to Hope", believing that over time, dialogue would contribute to the emergence of an all-encompassing "dialogical cosmopolis".
