Reflections on the relationship between faith and mysticism Counterpoint between Edith Stein and Ernst Tugendhat

This article compares Edith Stein and Ernst Tugendhat in the relationship between faith and mysticism as two paths leading to transcendent experience, viewed through their respective phenomenological frameworks. The analysis examines key works by both authors and compares and contrasts their approaches: Stein's experience of the Christian faith oriented toward a mystical relationship with God and Tugendhat's pursuit of secular mysticism based on selfknowledge. The methodology of counterpoint seeks not to harmonize their views but to highlight both discrepancies and areas of overlap while demonstrating the complexity of mystical experience. After recognizing the inherent limitations of the analysis, the author discusses what both Stein and Tugendhat can contribute to a current reevaluation of mysticism in religious contexts.
