Management of Primary Tracheal Tumors

Treatment outcomes of patients with malignant tracheal tumors have improved during the last decades. In these patients, surgery provides superior overall survival compared with nonsurgical treatment options. Thus, the judgment on resectability is crucially important to further determine the treatment pathway of the individual patient. Given the rarity of the pathology and the complexity of operative managment, patients with tracheal tumors should be referred to tertiary centers experienced in nononcological and oncological airway surgery.
