摘要
Asthma attacks disrupt daily life by causing breathlessness and coughing due to narrowed airways. Current monitoring devices are bulky and impractical, failing to detect exacerbations adequately. We propose the novel Asthma Attack Monitoring Device (AAMD). This device features a unique U-shaped design, weighs only 63 g, and is comfortably worn around the neck, allowing users to engage in daily activities without obstruction. The AAMD incorporates an innovative Asthma Attack Prediction algorithm with integrated biosensors to monitor coughs via sound and accelerometer sensors while collecting heart rate data, a novel method for predicting asthma attacks. Additionally, it includes a GSM module to alert patients and healthcare providers during critical events. Validation with 16 asthmatic and non-asthmatic volunteers demonstrated 96.2% overall monitoring accuracy and 98% accuracy in predicting exacerbations. The AAMD represents a significant advancement in patient-friendly asthma management, combining comfort, accuracy, and timely alerts for effective monitoring.
