摘要
This review aims to comprehensively compare the performance of filtering and conventional hydrocyclones, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of the former device. Filtering hydrocyclones employ the centrifugal sedimentation principle to separate a dispersed phase from a liquid phase. From a conventional hydrocyclone, the filtering devices are obtained when changing the massive material of the cylinder and/or cone with a porous media. Moreover, this study also intends to summarize how the performance of the filtering device is altered by its geometry and operational parameters. Furthermore, this review analyzes the research methodologies employed by the studies using the filtering device.
