center dot This article reviews recent high-profile fungal disease outbreaks. center dot Concerning features of these outbreaks include the rapid emergence and spread of resistant fungi, particularly during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. the need for improved rapid diagnostic methods, lack of routine surveillance, adherence to infection control practices, fungal disease awareness, and proper stewardship of antifungals and other medications.
