摘要
In this work, we carried out a case study of the new video codec standard established by the ITU/ISO (H.266/VVC) for a specific video category, "mobile screen content". To accomplish it, we created four uncompressed video sequences consisting of some of the most common mobile usages, and compared the new codec performance with both the previous H.265/HEVC standard and its extensions for desktop screen content (SCC). The results show that the new codec performs better than the previous codec for all video sequences tested, reducing the bitrate almost 40%, and outperforms the SCC extension for three of four video sequences, but the processing time increases exponentially when tested under the same conditions.
