Combined structural refinement using x-ray and neutron diffraction and magnetic properties of double perovskites La2-xErxNiMnO6

摘要
Double perovskite La2-xErxNiMnO6 (x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) was synthesized via the solid-state reaction method. The impact of Er3+ substitution at the La site on structural and magnetic properties was systematically studied. Rietveld refinement of combined X-ray and neutron diffraction data confirmed a monoclinic (P21/n) and rhombohedral (R-3) phase for La2NiMnO6, while Er doping stabilized the monoclinic phase. The average grain size increased with Er concentration. FTIR and Raman spectra verified characteristic double perovskite bands. The Curie temperature (Tc1) decreased from 250 K (x = 0.00) to 224 K (x = 0.15), attributed to reduced Ni-O-Mn bond angles and increased Mn/Ni-O bond lengths. The x = 0.05 composition exhibited higher magnetocrystalline anisotropy (7.5 x 107 erg/cm3) due to La3+ substitution by Er3+.
