摘要
Background: Vitamin D deficiency is a significant public health issue associated with many chronic diseases. Objective: The aim of this study was to demonstrate the impact of vitamin D deficiency on anemia parameters and body composition in women with obesity. Methods: The study was conducted on a total of 75 (Body Mass Index >= 30.0 kg/m(2)) women with obesity between the ages of 19-55 living in Aksaray, consisting of 43 with vitamin D deficiency (<30 nmol/L) and 32 without deficiency (>50 nmol/L). Personal information, general health status, some nutritional habits and a food consumption form were administered to women face to face and consent forms were obtained. Anthropometric measurements were taken, and anemia criteria and biochemical values were examined. Results: Serum iron, ferritin, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and vitamin B-12 values are lower in women with vitamin D levels <30 nmol/L compared to those with levels >50 nmol/L and this was statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusions: Vitamin D deficiency is associated with serum iron, ferritin, hemoglobin, and hematocrit levels. The results confirmed our hypothesis that serum vitamin D deficiency may be a potential danger for the development of anemia.
