Wideband RCS Reduction of Dual Circularly Polarized Array Using Polarization Conversion Metasurface

摘要
This paper presents a novel dual circularly polarized (CP) slot array antenna that reduces radar cross section (RCS) over a wideband. The design includes a checkerboard polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) and a CP slot array antenna with a ring-shaped feeding part. On the one hand, the backscattered scattering is reduced due to that the beam interference of the reflected waves generated by PCM. The antenna achieves a 97% relative bandwidth of RCS reduction across its operating band. On the other hand, thanks to the ring-shaped feeding part, the array has dual CP radiation within 8.87-9.32GHz. The proposed method is a simple, low-cost, and innovative approach to designing wideband low-RCS dual CP antennas.
