摘要
Diseases characterized by amyloid aggregation, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and Type II Diabetes mellitus, present a significant global public health challenge. The aberrant buildup and deposition of amyloid proteins w ithin the body are important markers and causative factors of these diseases. While early intervention strategies targeting amyloid aggregation can have some effect on the associated diseases, they are insufficient in preventing or reversing disease development. Carbon dots (CDs) have received a lot of attention in recent decades from a variety of scientific disciplines. In the context of amyloid aggregation disease, CDs have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in interacting with amyloid, inhibiting amyloid aggregation, reducing cytotoxicity, and overcoming physiological barriers in recent years. Latest developments in the field of amyloid aggregation disease involving CDs are introduced and discussed, highlighting the importance of their distinctive properties in inhibiting amyloid aggregation and reducing cytotoxicity. The discussion also addresses current challenges and future opportunities for clinical applications. Although the application of CDs in treating amyloid aggregation disease is still in its early stages, their ability to interact with amyloid effectively, inhibit aggregation effectively, and overcome physiological barriers signifies their potential as promising tools for future treatments in this domain.
