摘要
This article conducts a thorough investigation into the effects of amyl alcohol premixing on the characteristics of a compression ignition engine, which is powered by an equal blend of camphor oil and diesel, using a response surface methodology approach. A central composite method was used to obtain the experimental matrix for the input of load from 50 to 100 % and amyl alcohol premixing ratio from 0 to 20 % and tested on a 4-stroke singlecylinder diesel engine. All the models were tested using ANOVA with a confidence level of 95 %. The regression model for the parameter is determined to have a linear and quadratic relationship with a significance level of 95 %. The prediction model is confirmed to have a confidence level of 95 %. The performance results show that the addition of benzyl alcohol at 20 % in premixing mode boosts the thermal efficiency by 11.86 % and cuts down the brake specific energy consumption by 13.5 %, volumetric efficiency by 2.6 %, and exhaust gas temperature by 8.65 % at the rated load compared to diesel. The exergy analysis conveys the uptick in the exergy efficiency by 8.08 % and mitigates the entropy generation by 18.2 % for 20 % amyl alcohol premixing at rated load compared to diesel. Amyl alcohol premixing at 20 % at rated power worsens the hydrocarbon by 24.51 %, carbon monoxide by 51.5 %, carbon dioxide by 3.08 %, and nitric oxide by 21.13 % but lowers the smoke emissions by 72.3 % compared to diesel. In addition, it also abates the exergoeconomic and thermoeconomic loss but elevates the enviroeconomic loss. Amyl alcohol has limitations due to the higher emissions except for smoke opacity; therefore, exhaust gas should be after-treated using the selective catalytic reduction method.
