摘要
Photocatalysis is gaining popularity as an acceptable alternative to traditional synthetic methods for cleaning water polluted with organic compounds. Thin films of Au/TiO2:CdS were prepared on a glass substrate for this work. A thin film is created in two processes. First, thin films (TiO2:CdS) were prepared using the sol-gel dip coating procedure. Second, use reactive plasma DC sputtering to deposit a thin layer of gold on the surface of the TiO2:CdS film. This study investigates how gold affected the photodegradation effectiveness of a TiO2:CdS film designed to decompose methyl orange (MO) dye in water and characterise gold Au/TiO2:CdS thin films. Results showed that the use of gold increased the film ability to absorb both visible and ultraviolet (UV) light. TiO2:CdS sample photocatalytic reaction efficiency increases when it is coated with gold. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Au NPs, which increases organic dye degradation, explains the significant boost. Our findings show that, by enhancing photocatalytic activities through the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect, this design leads to a higher Au/TiO2:CdS degrading efficiency.
