摘要
The aim of this study is to estimate the direct and indirect impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Argentina during the years 2020 and 2021, through the analysis of Years of Life Expectancy Lost (YLEL), according to major causes. The data sources used were the deaths of the Argentine population, for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021, with information provided by the Directorate of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the Ministry of Health of Argentina. The population data used are from the population projections prepared by Celade (2022). The decomposition of life expectancy differences in 2019, 2020 and 2021 was calculated using the procedure proposed by Arriaga (1984, 2014). Between 2019 and 2021 there were gains in life expectancy among those under 25 years of age, and losses among those over 24 years of age. Also, the main decreases in life expectancy were due to direct deaths from COVID-19.
