On the Relationship Between the Structure and Properties of Nickel-Diamond Composite Coatings Deposited from Electrolytes Without Surfactants Under Vibration Agitation Conditions

摘要
The structure of nickel-diamond composite electrochemical coatings, obtained without surfactants in the electrolyte, has been studied. Using the EBSD method, an introduction of diamond particles was shown to result in significant matrix grain refinement. Microhardness measurements using a scanning nanohardness tester confirmed an increase in the mechanical properties of nickel matrix compared to pure nickel. A study of coatings microhardness dependence on diamond volume fraction showed that there is a threshold diamond particles amount in the coating, below which significant hardening does not occur. It has been shown that the use of coarser diamond powders of 5-7 mu m allows achieving greater microhardness of the coating with the same volume fraction of particles than when using a smaller fraction (0-0.25 mu m). At the same time, coatings with diamond powder of 0-0.25 mu m have greater wear resistance.
