Production and financialization of real estate tourism complexes in the Global South: new businesses and strategies in the Brazilian Northeast and Mexican Caribbean

Financialization advances the spatial production process and operates in real estate tourist complexes, allowing the mobilization of leisure spaces as financial assets. The new real estate tourist dealings and strategies guarantee possibilities to fractionate capital and expand the capture of real estate rents. Real estate tourism is considered for its production and financialization, constituting and expanding urban values and objects. The corporate associations of the real estate tourism sector, the real estate business fronts of international hotel chains, and the production of sizeable real estate tourism complexes in the Mexican Caribbean and Northeast Brazil show the growth of the convergence between real estate and tourism in the Global South, increasingly guaranteed by the financialization process of the production of space.
