摘要
Our analysis of the translation of Aristotle's Poetics by Eduardo Sinnott is partial, it concentrates on a single concept: verisimilitude. This notion, although it corresponds to the field of rhetoric, is understood in this translation as a "totality of meaning" and is, furthermore, neutral with respect to the truth. Every story must be credible, feasible according to current opinions, the domain of mu iota mu eta sigma iota sigma is not that of real truth but that of possible truth. We will demonstrate, through comparison with fragments of Eilhard Schlesinger's translation, that Eduardo Sinnott's is, without a doubt, better and more reliable, with illuminating footnotes that facilitate the understanding of the text and offer solutions to the doubts that have arisen by other modern commentators.
