Preparation of mesophase pitch-based carbon foam with fusiform pore morphology and high compressive strength

摘要
Carbon foams (CFm) with fusiform pore morphology and high compressive strength were successfully prepared using mesophase pitch (MP) as a raw material by in-situ doping boron carbide (B4C) nanoparticles through the ball milling or THF liquid mixing method. The results showed that the introduced B4C could not only significantly improve the graphitization degree of CFm, but also regulated the pore morphology of CFm due to its dual roles of catalytic graphitization and foaming site for MP. The compressive strength and thermal conductivity of B4C-doped graphitized CFm (B-LMP-GFm) prepared by the THF liquid mixing method could reach 2.55 MPa and 84.45 W/(m center dot K), and the volume resistivity was as low as 10.09 mu S2 center dot m, which was better than those of commercial ones.
