Cyberbullying among teenagers during remote teaching: comparison between public and private schools

Understand knowledge of cyberbullying among adolescent students from public and private schools. This is a study with a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews with a semi-structured script, with teenagers from two public schools and two other private schools in a city in the interior of Bahia, who experienced education remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sixteen teenagers were interviewed, nine of whom came from public schools and the rest from private schools. Research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee and respected ethical aspects at all stages. Three thematic categories emerged: Understanding of Cyberbullying by teenagers, Comparison between Bullying and Cyberbullying and Cyberbullying Prevention Strategies, through which it was possible to perceive the disparity between education networks regarding cyberbullying, as well as the importance of continued education with adolescents about violence prevention. Based on the adolescents' reports, the importance of strategies that enable understanding of cyberbullying and the ways in which it manifests itself is urgent, in order to establish strategies that promote a culture of peace.
