摘要
Purpose of ReviewContinent urinary diversion is a management option for select patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD). We provide up-to-date information regarding indications, surgical principles, and outcomes for various continent urinary diversions.Recent FindingsContinent urinary reservoirs in neurogenic patients are durable and may improve quality of life. Such diversions require long-term continued monitoring as the need for surgical revisions are common and can occur many years after construction. Multiple surgical techniques have been developed in recent years to salvage failed continence channels. Rates of concomitant cystectomy at the time of diversion appear to be increasing.SummaryContinent urinary diversions for the management of neurogenic bladder are typically performed in the pediatric population. The complication rates are significant, but the procedures improve patient quality of life. More research must be done on the very-long term outcomes and complications to better define ongoing surveillance strategies.
