摘要
Prolonged aging can lead to detrimental precipitation in alumina-forming austenitic stainless steels (AFAs). This study investigates the Fe-24Ni-14Cr-3Al-2.5Cu-0.5Nb (AFA) alloy at 710 degrees C with and without tungsten (W). Microstructural analysis revealed NbC formation after homogenization at 1260 degrees C for 7 h. Aging at 710 degrees C showed that the W-free alloy developed both NbC and L12-ordered Ni-Cu-Al phases, while the W-containing alloy exhibited smaller Ni-Cu-Al phases. After 2200 h, the W-free alloy showed delta-ferrite and Laves-Fe2Nb phases, whereas the W-alloy developed Laves-Fe2W and B2-NiAl phases in greater amounts. This phase formation suppressed the detrimental delta-ferrite network and enhanced room temperature tensile and corrosion properties. The nucleation of Fe2W at grain boundary junctions reduced stress concentration, improving ductility and passivation strength in the W-containing steel.
