摘要
Waste plastic particles are being studied for their potential to reduce the demand for coarse aggregate and serve as an efficient method of handling non-biodegradable plastic waste in concrete. The properties of concrete with waste plastic particles used in partial replacement of the coarse aggregate were investigated in this study. The discarded consumer plastic particles were cut into tiny pieces by shredding them from trash. It has been discovered that the strength characteristics of concrete are adversely affected by the presence of plastic particles. Nevertheless, research on experiments has shown that adding 15—20% fly ash as an additional cementitious material significantly increases the strength of concrete that contains plastic particles. By using this approach, the overall benefit of controlling the growing threat posed by plastic waste in the environment is improved. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
