摘要
PurposeTo evaluate the possible role of Nuclear Medicine imaging in Non-Oncological Surgical Emergencies, with possible recent advances in this field.MethodsA narrative review to update Nuclear Medicine imaging tools in the field of non-oncological surgical emergencies was performed, in comparison with conventional radiological imaging techniques, included and discussed from a clinical and surgical point of view.ResultsAlthough acute inflammation is an established setting in Nuclear Medicine (acute appendicitis, pancreatitis, and gastro-intestinal bleedings), all indications need more evidence-based data to be diffused in clinical practice, in particular in non-oncological surgical emergencies.ConclusionsLarger studies are needed to confirm and expand the role of this diagnostic tool in clinics.
