摘要
Waste materials recycling become a real problem in third-world communities, due to the rapid development of civilization and the increase in the population in the world which causes a rapid increase in the produced waste materials quantity. Between produced waste materials waste glass is one of the main components of due to its high usage in human life. Using waste glass as a partial replacement of concrete components has become one of the most interesting topics for researchers, especially as a partial replacement of cement due to the pozzolanic activity of the glass powder when powdered to lower than forty-five micrometers. With these investigations, the effect of the glass powder on the concrete behaviors especially bond strength, thermal conductivity, and abrasion resistance has not been investigated completely. This article deals with the usage of waste glass powder as a partial replacement of cement in normal strength concrete with 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 50% (by weight), to find their effect on the fresh, mechanical properties, bond strength, water penetration, abrasion resistance, and thermal conductivity of the concrete. The result is that waste glass powder increases the slump of concrete, thermal conductivity, and water penetration, with a decrease in the bond strength and abrasion resistance. Using waste glass powder up to 10% as a partial replacement for cement can result in greater compressive strength than the control mix. In comparison, 5% as a partial replacement can provide optimum value in flexural strength compared to the control mix.
