摘要
The Nasutitermitinae subfamily is highly evolved and widely distributed throughout the tropics. The rare monotypic genus Ampoulitermes is only known by a single species Ampoulitermes wayanadensis which is endemic to India. A new species Ampoulitermes zacharia Joseph and Mathew sp.nov, is described from Idukki, Kerala, India. The morphometry of the species is discussed, with suitable illustrations. Molecular data based on Cytochrome oxidase I is generated, with which phylogeny is analysed. A revised key to the genus Ampoulitermes is provided.
