An unprecedented trinuclear heterometallic complex Co III 2 CuII with a reduced Schiff base ligand: Synthesis, structure and spectral analysis

摘要
A unique trinuclear CoIII2 CuII complex, [(CoLR)2Cu(N3)4] (1) has been synthesized by reacting a reduced tetradentate di-Schiff base ligand [H2LR] (where H2LR = N,N '-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,3-propanediamine) with cobalt perchlorate hexahydrate, copper perchlorate hexahydrate and sodium azide in 2:2:1:4 molar ratio in methanol-water medium. The product has been characterized by IR and UV-Visible spectral studies, elemental analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction method. Complex 1 is a linear trinuclear heterometallic species in which two terminal octahedral Co(III)N4O2 cores coordinate to the central square planar copper(II) ion via double phenoxido oxygen atom bridges and additionally, two azido anionic coligands are terminally bonded to the each of the terminal cobalt center.
