摘要
The corrosion properties of magnetic and soft-magnetic alloys Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) and Iron Cobalt (FeCo) have been characterized in a molten fluoride salt. A LiF-NaK-KF (46.5–11.5–42 mol %, FLiNaK) mixture with added Cr impurities was used to expose specimens at 550 °C for 100 h. The SmCo alloy experienced an attack via grain boundaries dissolution while a layer of small voids was formed uniformly underneath the attacked surface of the FeCo alloy. It has been found that SmCo and FeCo withstand the molten salt attack despite the high activity of some constituents (e.g. Sm). The SmCo alloy lost about 10 % of its magnetic field strength, which has been observed as a temperature dependent effect decoupled from the salt corrosion. © 2025
