In view of the problem of too much manual intervention in the IEC 61850 conformance testing in the smart substation, a closed-loop conformance testing system supporting standard IEC 61850 is proposed. By employing a software platform based on the Qt component + bottom logic analysis dynamic depot and distributed hardware platform based on the DSP+ARM dual-core processor, the system mainly writes the test cases related to the standard IEC 61850 Ed 1.0 in open source and Python language. Moreover, function interfaces are provided for the convenience of customized definition of a case. The software can automatically execute the test cases to realize full-closed loop in the experiment process, which improves the test efficiency and quality of the test. In the platform test and case part, typical Ed 1.0 test cases are verified with the actual device as the target. The experimental results show that the test cases can meet the demand of IEC 61850 conformance testing. © 2016 Automation of Electric Power Systems Press.
