Using big data analytics (BDA) for improving decision-making performance in projects

摘要
Big data analytics (BDA) is regarded as improving decision-making performance. As projects are confronted with a variety of constraints, BDA can help with timely and informed decision-making. However, little knowledge exists on the subject. Data collected through twenty-five semi-structured interviews was analyzed using NVivo. Results show that BDA improves project decision- making performance by providing insights on issues emerging throughout project lifecycle, prompting timely and rational decisions. However, not everyone is convinced, pointing out that organizations lack maturity in data management and face ethical/bias issues. Study makes six propositions in addition to its findings to advance the literature on BDA-driven decision-making.
