Effect of the Quenching Parameters on the Properties of 03Kh11N10M2T Stainless Maraging Steel.

To obtain a fine-grained structure, to dissolve boundary segregations of titanium carbide, to restore the impact strength and to increase the corrosion resistance under stress, it is recommended that large semifinished products of 03Kh11N10M2T steel be subjected to prior three-stage quenching from 980-1000 degree C after accelerated heating at 10 to 30 degree C per min. The temperature of the final quenching is chosen as a function of the conditions of operation and the following requirements: after quenching from Ac//3 plus (200-300) degree C the plasticity and impact strength of aged metal tested at plus 20 degree C should be noticeably higher than after quenching from Ac//3 plus (100-150) degree C; the low-temperature quenching must ensure the obtaining of a certain proportion of secondary, finely differentiated austenite and a higher impact strength at minus 70 degree C.
