摘要
In the present chapter the author outlines a theory of large deformations of materials composed of strong fibers embedded in a matrix of more compliant material, such as nylon cords in a rubber matrix or metal filaments bonded together with ductile aluminum. The subject review is discussed under the following main headings - infinitesimal plane deformations; finite plane deformation; plane deformations with uniform axial stretching; axisymmetric deformations; and general three-dimensional theory. The last main heading comprises the subheadings - kinematics; equilibrium equations; finite elastic stress response; stress response for extensible materials; and solutions for extensible materials.
