摘要：
A large prototype buoy was developed based on smaller experimental systems. This buoy system was intended mainly for watching typhoons and fronts and collecting meteorological and oceanographic on-line data required for weather forecast. It observes wind direction, wind speed, atmospheric pressure, waves, etc. , totaling 16 items observed 8 times a day and the data transmitted over radio to the land station. The system has been in operation for nearly 2 years. An outline of the buoy system No. 3 along with some of the results are described.
