摘要
Alloys prepared from mixtures of two powders with significantly different compositions and properties, were investigated. All alloys contained additions of titanium and boron. Rapid solidification processing and consolidation by hot extrusion enhanced strength and ductility. The TiB//2 particles (0. 03 mu m) inhibited grain growth at temperatures up to 1800 degree F(1255 K) and also strengthened the alloys. An Fe-3 Si-8 Al alloy had the highest strength, 268 ksi (1. 87 GPa), with elongation of 6. 7%. The properties could be varied considerably by heat treatment.
