A 4160 bit serial memory was designed, fabricated and tested. To facilitate fabrication, compatibility with existing technology was an important consideration. As a result, the Conductively Connected CCD or C4D was chosen for the memory. Operation was obtained for arbitrary data streams at clock rates up to 1. 6 MHz (3. 2 MHz data rate) for a maximum read latency of 80 mu sec. This performance demonstrates the feasibility of the C4D as a component for a medium speed large scale memory. Abstract only.
