The Waterworks building in Chestnut Hill, one of the proud achievements in the history of Boston's public architecture, is on its way to an undignified demise, a potential victim of competing interests and agencies, unless someone does something soon. Both public and private agencies responsible for the Waterworks do not have any budget to finance the rehabilitation to halt its deterioration. Getting all the players to work together will take some time. There are discussions with private investors to find new uses for other landmark buildings on the same Chestnut Hill site.
