Textures in grade 45, 50, and 40Kh steels processed by two technologies was investigated. The technologies were (1) lathe turning, grinding, and superfinishing and (2) lathe turning, quenching, grinding and superfinishing. Quantitative (110) polar patterns recorded by the reflection method are given. With the first technology grinding and superfinishing result in a texture with its principal ideal orientation coincident with the rolling texture in bcc lattice metals, while the grinding texture also includes the (100) left bracket 001 right bracket recrystallization component. No texture is found in specimens treated by the second technology.
