A new principle employing screw spindle and nut with differential drive is developed for obtaining extremely slow translatory motion from a rotary input. By using this principle, the requirement of conventional speed reducing pairs is kept to a minimum. Using this principle a prototype tension/compression testing machine is designed, constructed and tested. The test results are quite satisfactory.
