The skid-mounted units described have been installed on several drilling rig fuel sales points to measure consumption. The meter, selected for this application because of its ability to handle highly erratic flow patterns, is suited for sporadic start-stop operations such as a 1500 to 2000-hp drilling rig engine. When properly sized, the unit can accurately measure consumption at idle speeds, as well as handle the big surges.
